Jerry L. Files, age 52, passed away Tuesday morning at his home in Elkville Illinois. Jerry was born on October 15, 1971, in Belleville, IL to Jerry & Carolyn Files. He attended school in Okawville, IL. Jerry had a deep passion for the outdoors and his animals, from Ruby the Racoon to Bongo the Bird and all the dogs he had in his lifetime. In his childhood, he won awards such as "Junior Champion" from the FFA for his prized chickens. Jerry worked as a general contractor since early adulthood, which allowed him to travel the country and eventually led him to his Life Long Companion, Shellie Roe.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Melvin Files Jr. & Carolyn Sue (Scott) Files. He is survived by his brother, Mark(Cindy) Files; sister, Kimberly (Files) Cross; five sons, Jerry, Dustin, Tyler, Dylan, and Hayden, several nieces, nephews, and his beloved grandchildren.
